2

i accidentally got the candles that relight.
so cool when they first came out.
pretty confusing for a 2 year old.

his new thing "AIDAN!" to let us know
he wants to do something by himself.
he normally speaks in
short sentences.
this, however, is a statement.

he was on the trampoline f
or a good
45 minutes
of the hour we were there.
fun stuff on a 100 degree day
in a gym with no air conditioning.

gymnastics class

aidan saw me looking at this picture on the computer and threw a tantrum because he wanted the balls. i had to explain that they were at gymnastics, we weren't and that he was looking at a photograph. it was an interesting exchange.

half way through a somersault.

backward roll...he was very excited that everything was upside down.

please dear lord, don't let this girl let go of me.

aidan got goggles for his birthday. i think he must be trying to look at them, keep them on and talk at the same time here. we always assume he got the smart genes...this picture indicates we could be wrong.jack hanging out in the car seat at the beach. for those of you looking closely, he has flecks of sand on his face. i learned that when it's windy at the ocean, you should put babies well above ground level. it seems i missed out on the smart genes too.

vigilante justice-kid style

i wasn't in the room, but here's the story as it was translated to me by those that were there to witness it:

aidan & landen were apparently fighting over some sort of bright, shiny object they both felt they must have or surely they would never live to see another day. the following details are a little fuzzy, but from what was discerned by the semi-observing adults one of the boys let go of said shiny object (that would have been my son). at that point, landen's pulling momentum continued and the toy bonked him firmly on the head (a boo-boo pack was needed). once landen regained his composure casey approached him and the conversation went something like this:

casey: you okay landen?
landen: yeah, i okay casey
casey: what happened? aidan hit you?
landen: yeah, aidan hit me
casey: aidan needs a time out
landen: yeah, aidan needs a time out
casey: aidan you no hit, you get a time out
landen: yeah aidan, you go to time out

casey then takes one of aidan's hands, landen takes the other. they lead him to what they deem the naughty corner chastising him during the entire 5-foot walk of shame. they leave him in the corner and go sit on the couch to stare at him--all the while still reprimanding him for hitting ("aidan, you no hit. you in time out. no aidan. you stay there." etc.) aidan just stood there staring at them (taking his sentence like a man). at some point aidan started to get antsy. the vigilantes noticed and yelled "no aidan, you in time out!". somewhere about the same time aidan realized that, not only were casey & landen staring him down, there was a whole table full of adults (stifling giggles) also looking on. then the tears started and john jumped in to rescue him telling him he wasn't in time out anymore.

if the embarrassment of being punished by your peers doesn't get you to stop misbehaving, i don't know what will. fingers crossed.
